Vases for Spring-Blooming Flowers

Tulips are my favorite kind of flower, and lately, I’ve been receiving quite a few of them. I own one vase, a Vetreria Etrusca design, which has probably been in my family for at least as long as I’ve been alive. While it continues to serve me well, I recently realized that one vase may not be sufficient. Three bouquets came through the door the other day, and I had to put two of them in a pitcher. My hunt for a new vase is underway. Here are some of my preliminary findings.

Bath Robes and Short-Sleeve Pajama Sets

Sleepwear for warm weather

We’ve already established that sleepwear is a legitimate category of clothing. We first touched upon the topic this past March, and if memory serves me correctly, the heat was still on in our apartment. The indoor temperature was pleasantly regulated, and I was still able to wear my go-to cold-weather pajamas—the J.Crew vintage short-sleeve set—every night. (I own this style in both navy and hydrangea…several of each of course.)

Since we’ve long passed that unspecified point on the calendar after which it’s not acceptable to have the heat on, the inside temperature simulates the conditions outside. It won’t be regulated again until the air conditioner comes on for the summer. At the moment, the temperature inside our apartment is equally as unpredictable as the spring weather. This means that dressing for bed isn’t as straightforward. One minute there’s a cold snap, and the next minute we’re experiencing a heat wave. Sometimes it’s too hot for my standard cold-weather pajamas, and other times they do just fine. My solution to all of this: a bathrobe and pajamas consisting of a short-sleeve/tank top and shorts. Here are some options I’m considering.

Color Combination: Black and White

A white and black outfit

Although I own a wardrobe that allows me to get dressed with ease, sometimes assembling ensembles requires a bit of thinking. When I start to overthink the process, I turn to the black and white color combination. My favorite variation: black top/white skirt/black shoes. White top/black skirt/black shoes comes in a close second.

In this context, the term white encompasses off-white colors such as beige or cream. Swapping the skirt out for a pair of pants is also a viable option. However, let it be known that white pants are a point of contention for me. (Perhaps we’ll revisit the topic at a later date.)

P.S. It’s been warm enough in PHL to show a little skin. Ladies, I said a little.
